Exploring meanings: How images affect appreciation.
This project explored how images communicate in more than one way. I have examined how pictorial elements affect meaning and how images may convey meanings which contradict intended messages.
In order to effectively explore my topic, I composed a story and illustrated it. The story is based on a science topic about the life cycle of a chicken. My readership was made up of primary school year 4 children (7-8year olds). I made a wordless picture book whose contents were guided by the New Zealand Curriculum. The curriculum's key competencies are -enhancing critical thinking, the use of language, symbols and texts, managing self, relating to others and participating and contributing. |
